Discovery Church is made up of people who not long ago felt far from God and could never picture themselves in a church. So we understand where you're at and invite you to come as you are. Bring your questions and wear what you want. Just remember, no making out in the back row.
Our Story
Discovery began out of a desire to provide a place for people to discover who God is and what His plan for their lives might be. However, we were very aware that some people did not like church, or at least church as they knew it. We wanted to create a place that people could begin this discovery process without feeling like they had to be perfect or good enough.
In the fall of 2007, a small group of individuals began to gather in homes, office spaces and restaurants across Evansville to discuss what this new church might look like. In the following summer, Discovery hosted three preview services. Since the services were spread out over the course of three months, we joked that if you came one Sunday that month, you got perfect attendance. On September 7, 2008, Discovery launched into meeting weekly at Kerasotes Stadium 16.
Over the course of the first year, we have seen God grow us and challenge us. We celebrated our first birthday this past fall with a party and the first baptisms at Discovery. We look forward to what is coming our way in the next year as well.
